So after a pretty comfy bus ride we arrived in Prague. We were early so we made our way to the hostel to dump our bags before cruising out to see some sights. It is pretty cold here so no doubt we will spend the day freezing our arses off. We made our way to the river & jumped on a river cruise for an hour. It gave us a good view of the castle & cathedral & we got to go under Charles bridge. We took plenty of pictures before disembarking & making our way into the central square. We grabbed some lunch from the markets in the square & I got to try Langosch that Dan had been raving about. It is a sort of flat unsweetened doughnut that has cheese, ketchup & garlic on it. It was pretty amazing, especially as it only works out to not much more than a pound. In fact everything is so cheap over here, from drink & food to accommodation & transport. After filling up on comfort food we headed around the corner to join up for a walking tour & watch the famous astronomical clock. The clock was underwhelming to say the least but I guess it had to be seen. While we waited for the tour to start I got to have a go on a Segway which made up for the clock. Will definately have to do a Segway tour one day, lots of fun. Our walking tour was worth the time investment. We had a Dutch guide who took us around for 3 hours & he was very entertaining. We saw a lot of the historical sites in the centre of Prague & received a pretty in depth history lesson. After the tour we figured we had been freezing all day so we would prolong the pain a bit more & head over Charles bridge to the John Lennon wall. It was definately worth seeing but we had been punished with the chilliness for long enough. So it was back to the hostel to check in & warm up with a shower. Then we headed back out for dinner & a few drinks at a pub that had been recommended by Radim. We met up with the only other Australian on our tour, Kelly, & had yet again another great feed. It just seems all the food in Czech Republic is amazing. Take note England, this is how you do it. Then back to the hostel as we had another early morning bus trip, this time to Cesky Krumlov. This one would hurt as we had to be up really early, walk about 50 mins to the bus station, then a 3 hour bus trip. Ouch!!! So what did I think of Prague? Like so many European cities it was beautiful. One day just wasn't enough. But I have saved a lot of Prague, like the castle, for later in the year as I want to take Jac there. A few more days in Prague with my girl, yep that's something I'm really looking forward to.
