Brisbane is a lovely city, the weather is alittle too humid as they have some high rise buildings but Helen and I really liked it. We took the citycat which is a local river taxis along Brisbane river. It was abit windy but nice to be on the water for a change. It took us all along the river past Kangaroo Point, Southbank and under all the bridges. Once on land again we took the free city tour which all in all took about 4 hours with a break for lunch, taking us to Southbank and the man-made beach. They have this man-made beach as Brisbane is inland but it was full of children as it was still summer break. The botanic gardens are lovely so we spent a day picnicing there but the ants got too much for us in the end but it is still a nice place to relax in the sun. Whilst there as we spent 9 nights in Brisbane we booked all of our flights to New Zealand and Thailand so the next legs of our journey are now finalised. We head to NZ 23rd Feb for 4weeks and then Thailand 25th March until 7th May ready for our flight home to the motherland lol. Really looking forward to those two trips.
The hostel we stayed in in Brisbane was nice, it used to be an old salvation army building so its very retro with an ancient looking lift. We met some lovely girls whilst there but they moved on to go and work on a farm apple picking. However Helen got in touch with a friend from uni who lives out here and we met up with her for a drink in the Valley which is a posh place where all the locals go out drinking and partying.
Austraila Day was the last day that we were there, we went to Southbank for a picnic and listened to the live music that they had playing and watched the circus acts. At the end of the day we watched the fireworks over Brisbane river. It was a lovely day and a nice way to say goodbye to Brisbane ready to move to Noosa the next day.
