Our last day in New York dawned fine and not so cold. We headed off down 8th Avenue towards Time Square with a stop for Kate to grab some "Ray Bans" ( 3 for $10) ...bargain!! From there Kate, Jack and I took off to help Gil Grissom out with a case at CSI The Experience . Naturally we were awesome and Gil asked us to stay on!!! Lol!!! From here we dropped into the apartment to drop off Adrian's shopping ( that's what he did while we were forensically skillful) before heading up 7th Ave to 53rd street for a subway. Dropped into a diner for lunch and was really disappointed with the meal - should have gone to 9th .. Sometimes we never learn. After lunch we jumped on the subway to head to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium to see a college football match. It was the Pinstripe Bowl between Rutgers and Iowa State Uni. Rutgers Is a New Jersey team so we thought we should go for the local team. Yankee Stadium was amazing and while not full still brimming with atmosphere. College Bowl has bands that travel with them. ISU band was 300 hundred strong as was the Rutgers band. They played before the game, at half time and any other chance they got. Not quite what we are used to...The couple sitting next to us were from Iowa and recent graduates of ISU and through them I learned that US state unis have about 28000 students who pay $6000 - $ 12000 a year in tuition. Stamford , Yale etc are about $30 000 a year. A lovely couple and was great to meet them. Yankee Stadium holds about 52000 and I guess there was about 38 000 so not enormous but certainly atmospheric! By the end of the game I even understood a fair bit - probably more than I do of AFL ... Not that at would be hard!!! By the way RUTGERS won!! Yay us!!! Caught the train home with 30 000 of our closest friends, grabbed Indian (....again! We groaned!!!) but it was close and easy as I had to pack the suitcases as we are off to Washington in the morning. Suitcases are seriously full! A new one needed but not till Orlando where we may well lose the Aldi snow boots and we do lose our chiropractic pillows we brought over with us!!!New York has been awesome and were times different I would love to live here for some time to really experience it! But NY is not a place for children to live but it is an awesome place to visit and experience. I am sure there is so much more we could have done but we have given a good doing over.To all my friends reading this Happy New Year. Thanks for sharing my life and allowing me the privilege of being a part of your life. Love you and see you next year xxxxxxx
