An early start today mainly cos I didn't read the invoice and went on what was firmly set in my memory... Good news is we were an hour and a half early! Had morning tea at a diner before the trapeze lesson and Adrian and Kate shared the best cheesecake ever! Trapeze school was the order of the day and , without bragging too much, both Kate and Jack excelled! Yes Kate's gymnastics, trampolining and diving all came into helping but Jack also excelled - he credits his Sunday morning Wayne training for his success. Either way both of them were successful in using the high trapeze swing to swing with bent knees and no arms as well as with a back somersault dismount. To top it off they were also "caught" by Zac, one of the instructors. All captured on video and in photo form- next time bringing a laptop - not as convenient but sure suits uploading photos etc. End result of trapeze was that the kids are now booked for another lesson in Washington. One of the instructors recommended it as they both did it so well. Another one wanted to know if Melbourne was close enough to Sydney so they could attend Sydney's Trapeze School. They are both on the beach right???
From there we headed down to Canal Street and back to our Chinese/Malaysian/Thai restaurant for another bowl of Laksa!!! Yum!! Kate stuck with her Sweet and Sour Chicken and Adrian's had a Thai noodle dish, mango smoothies and two Chardonnays tip included $60 bargain! The rain had really set in when we came out so we swam down Canal Street back to the subway and onto home.
Heidi, our super awesome tour guide and giver of free tickets, recommended an Off Broadway show that she has seen and thought the kids would like as Wicked is not discounted and this show was getting rave reviews - apparently the only tickets hotter are for " The Book Of Mormons" which is sold out every night! Traces is an urban dance troupe I guess. They are called 7 Fingers and you can You Tube their work. What we saw tonight was breath taking I it's acrobatics and dance etc. if you are heading to NY go and see it. It was due to end October 9 and now has no slated ending it is going so well.
BBQ was the order of the day for dinner chosen for its proximity to Union Square Theatre and the chance to get out of the rain quickly. Happy hour had $4.50 margaritas and it was a great Margarita! That mixed with a bit of chilli makes me a happy chappy. Adrian got an appetizer of rib tips and fries - massive!! Jack got his hot dog and fries ( kids eat free!!) and Kate went e northern style pork ribs . Ginger beer for both kids and a cheap happy hour Bud Light made for happy Smiths.
Today I have tarted walking down the 10 storeys for more exercise and tomorrow I think I am going to climb them once a day as well. New York seems t be defined by walking, subway and food!!! Tomorrow depends on the weather but we have a few things up our sleeve.... Keep you guessing until then!!!!!!
