Boxing Day! Boxing Day sales! We queued at Abercrombie & Fitch to get in the door.... Flagship stores DO NOT do sales .... How many A & F stores in NY? One!!! Ooops! So got the cologne ( Christmas present) and the polo shirt anyway. Wandered around 5 th Avenue until hunger set in and found a food place called Diigby's that you could get a salad - so here you bought a bowl of lettuce or spinach leaves ($3.99) and then you go to the salad man and choose your add ons at 0.75c - 1.25 per choice. Then you select a dressing as well. There were 6 meat choices, 15-20 salad choices and 10 dressing choices. Yummy and not too expensive! From there we walked home dropped off A&F grabbed more clothes - wind was chilly today and headed off to M&M world. What a nightmare! Three floors of every possible way of selling M & M s .... Lost Jack briefly and then I was lost ... Got out of there eventually with all four of us together again!! Headed off to Empire State Building where , we dropped in and bought me some knee high brown (maybe) leather boots for $40, black flats $20, Kate boots for $40 and Adrian funky black dress shoes for $40. Then there was the suit shop - two Daniel Hechter suits and a couple of ties later, we were back to heading to the Empire State building. It is there that thanks to Heidi - our awesome guide from last Thursday, we were given free NY pass tickets to use which saved us $$$ but also about 2 1/4 hours of queuing. We had to queue initially and then we got by-passed on several queues. The express pass for an extra $25 per person would have saved even more time but where's the saving in that?? Time is free after ll. Adrian was not so keen on going , I think, as we had done the Top of the Rock but changed his mind when we got there!! Freezing cold wind 86 storeys high but spectacular views!
The trip home took us via Dylan's Candy Bar and $$ of candy purchased by the children. I spoilt my husband with large yummy pieces of chocolate fudge. A visit to the apartment to drop off the afternoons purchases before heading off to El Rancho's for Mexican. A little store on W45th St between 8 th & 9 th that held 4 tables of four. Two enchiladas for $6.95.... yummy and a bargain. We wandered home up 9th avenue to W49th finding a cluster of cheap Thai restaurants for future dining choices!!
Early start tomorrow !!!
