Wow! What a different Christmas day! It was my turn for insomnia and sometime after 3.00am I managed to finally doze off but not before the city that never sleeps slept! It was really quiet... Not a sound to be heard!! So Christmas Day dawned with us waking the children at 8.30 am .. No Santa means no excitement or so it seems. Present opening was quick as the kids got their big presents ( Jack a phone and Kate a Nintendo 3D Ds) before Christmas for inflight entertainment. A little something was there for everyone and all were pleased with their gifts. I cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast and we headed off to Bryant Park for some free ice skating which they achieved quite successfully. From there we headed off to O'Donoghue's Irish pub for Christmas lunch. Not quite what we had envisaged but good cheap food .... Jack had fish and chips and Oreo cheesecake, Kate had bangers and mash and also Oreo cheesecake. Adrian and I partook of the Christmas menu and had the spinach salad with goats cheese, candied walnuts and roast beets followed by Roast Turkey for Adrian and Prime beef rib for me and both of us had chocolate mousse cake. Yummy!!!!! As we're the Californian chardys we had!!!
We walked home to get ready for the Rockettes. What an extraordinary spectacular show!!! A stage big enough for a double decker bus to look small and to have 2 camels crossing the stage. A theatre big enough to have fireworks go off inside! It was a fantastic combination of dancing singing and amazing 3D film to create a spectacular show!!! Well worth it. From there we headed , as any good Aussie would, to the Australian Bar to watch the Boxing Day test begin. But as every good Aussie would it was packed ant no room for the Smiths. On our way there we found a shoe shop that had knee high leather boots for $39 and other nice shoes for $20 right next door to a suit place with great suits at even better prices. We are going back tomorrow.
So for something completely different we had Indian for dinner as the kids wanted to eat at home..... Roll on Orlando where I can shop and cook something's they like. The whole eating out has worn thin for them.
So it is early to bed tonight for them as Kate is tears and ready to go home....... It has been so full on!
Until tomorrow .... A different but memorable Christmas.
