It's 11.00 pm NY time and we survived the long trip from Aust to USA. Watching the kids faces when boarded the V Australia flight to see personal tvs with movies and games as well as a USB charger!! Priceless! Then came a meal and it was free and yummy! Could not fault Virgin - service and everything spot on!! They were champions considering Jack managed about 1 hours sleep and Kate abit more. The grumpy one was Dad!!
Finally we arrived in L.A on time and after a bit of a wait managed to find ourselves with a 3 minute walk from International to Domestic. Checking at Domestic proved to be interesting and with the help of a nice man we eventually had boarding passes. The security we had to go through to get to departure lounge was pretty strenuous! But we did make it!! Kate and I managed a nap on our next flight which again was uneventful! Yay!
We were met at the airport by Ajman with our custom made converses - photos tomorrow! Juan got us safely through a brisk but certainly not as cold as we expected N.Y. Cousin Scott ( our new friend we have never me who helped make our converses a reality) called to welcome us to New York. Of course as is the wat, we are standing in the car park at JFK where Juan told us to wait and a lady in a 4WD pulls up and asks us if we have just arrived . Yes was our reply to which she promptly responded... "Is this whereI should be for arrivals and departures???" ( as in car parking). We said we have just arrived from Australia and she replied "Welcome to America" laughed and drove off!!!
Naturally the kids were starving so off they and Adrian went to get Indian from next door for dinner while I tried to unpack. The apartment is small but has what we need - kids in double bed each, us in another a bathroom, little lounge dining area ans a hop skip and a jump from everything!
On our street we saw Rockefeller Centre with its Christmas tree and skaing rink and a Radio City as well. Just so exciting!! There's been. Sirens, horns and happy voices floating up to our 10 th floor apartment... Lovely!!!
I am last to bed so off for a shower and another exciting today tomorrow... No photos yet as the powered hub that worked at home is not working here so no charged phones, cameras and no uploads to iPad.
