Sunny this morning but Hubie said it will rain later so off to Rex's farm in the mountains. Passed through tropical lush green countryside and a number of villages plus lots of sugar cane fields. Rex is 81 and has farmed all his life on the same property left to him by his father. He is fit, active and very content with his life. Poked coconuts out of trees for us and we tried coconut jelly from the unripe ones and traditional coconut from the ripe ones. Rex also farms bananas, yams and sorrel all organic and natural and herbs grow wild on his property. We chatted to him for ages about farming and life in general - a very grounding experience to meet someone so contented with a basic rural lifestyle.
Next a raft trip down the Martha Brae river - a gentle float through tropical growth on a bamboo raft guided by a man with a bamboo pole - serene and beautiful.
Then a late lunch at Sooeys on the sand at the waters edge - real Jamaican food and Red Stripe beer
As Hubie predicted the rain is pissing down again so back to the village with a stop at Althea's Store for supplies for Hubie to cook us Grilled Jerk Chicken and veggies tomorrow night.
Drinks and nibbles on the verandah watching the rain and trying to decide whether to stay in tonight or walk ourselves down to Cool Spot on the waters edge.
Decided to walk down to Cool Spot which was closed but they opened just for us and we had a drink and some food sitting over the water with free wifi so we skyped Crisps and tried Josh but no answer (see photos). Will have to walk back into the village in the dark but did bring a torch - will be interesting!
Made it with mud on our feet. Local kids came over to make sure we knew where we were going, everyone says hello - what an amazing village community! Yeah mon!

Jenny and Graham You guys are having an amazing holiday. Great stuff.
Alan & Virginia Thanks Lyndon Virginia caught me coming out of the shower but she had to use super zoom!!! Hi Jenny & Graham Amazing is the word guys. The experience living in Scarlett Hall village is a once in a lifetime one. It is hard to describe in words how much we have been welcomed and included in village life. The cruise ship ports we visited were great but this is something else mon!
