Off to Flamingo Beach early to catch the tides. It is a secluded sandy beach near Scarlett Hall where we were able to snorkel in waist deep water about 200m to the reef. Hubie guided us out and speared fish on the way - he also picked conch? shells and extracted the meat. Under water there were lots of colorful little fish, sea anenomes and sea urchins (one poisonous black one I had to be careful not to step on when I stood up for a rest every short while - not a very competent snorkeler. Back on shore Hubie started a fire and cooked the fish and conch in a curry with rice. We watched in amazement at how he improvised to set up the fire and prepare the meal. Fantastic fresh fish meal with of course a stubby of Red Stripe. At the dock in nearby Falmouth was a massive cruise ship - last week we were "croozers" scooting around the tourist spots in our 1 day in each port - this week we are living small village Jamaican style and seeing and doing things the "croozers" would never experience. What a contrast!
This arvo we are going to Cool Spot down on the water to do some internet stuff and then back at the Villa tonight Hubie is cooking jerk chicken over charcoal with vegies. We will drink more Red Stripe and Hubie wants us to play dominoes as well.
Yeah mon!
