Well last nights jerk chicken accompanied by 2/3 of a litre bottle of duty free vodka between the two us was too much for me so a very slow and seedy start today. Hubert and his son Javien knocked off a dozen stubbies of red stripe beer between them as well and we thought Hubie was a bit slow this morning as well. As it turned out he had been to see his dad who was dying and he was upset but didn't tell us because he wanted us to enjoy our day.
We headed off about 10.30 to spend the day in Montego Bay. Hubie dropped us of in downtown - what a chaotic place with lots of hustlers trying to get a dollar out of us for anything. We were the only white people in town even though there were 2 cruise ships in port. So we walked around a bit, looked at a few churches and monuments, withdrew some $ and headed out of town to walk along the foreshore to the Hip Strip shops and beaches. Guess what, we found all the "croozies" at the shops and on the beaches. We lazed at Doctors Cave Beach for an hour or so - quite impressed by the set up and casual atmosphere even though it was very tourist oriented. Hubie picked us up about 2pm with the news his dad had just died and we had to insist we go straight back to the village because he wanted to show us around some more. Afternoon spent using the Internet at Cool Spot on the water with a light lunch. Quiet time at home now and an early night is in order after last nights session. Hubie called in on his way back home and we talked while he downed some Red Stripes - we think he welcomed the chance to drown his sorrows a bit with someone other than family
We are so glad to be staying in our village community after experiencing downtown MoBay and the tourist stuff.
Last day tomorrow before off to Cuba on Friday. We could spend many more days here!
