We love Havana. Hotel Nacionale is old with lots of history, rooms are spacious , comfortable and well equipped and it has amazing and extensive grounds, bars and sitting areas and is set right on the sea. We walked the local Vedado area last night and walked along the sea front wall (Malecon) to the Old City today. Incredible number of magnificent colonial buildings slowly being restored to their former glory. Wide tree lined boulevards, lots of parks and grand hotels. In the old town lots of narrow cobblestoned pedestrian malls, bars, cafes and shops all in various stages of restoration. Heaps of old US cars, horse and buggies, push bike taxis etc but still easy to walk around. We followed Wild Bills Havana Pub Crawl (check it out on You Tube). We walked for 5 hours in total, drank at a few bars, had lunch and generally had a ball and the camera went crazy. Back at the hotel we lazed at the pool for a while and off to the Tropicana Cabaret tonight for 10pm show.
Went there in a pink Cadillac!! (see photos)
What a spectacular show - glitz and glamour but also very talented acrobats and musicians and all in a multistage venue outside under the stars - a great night followed by cocktails back at the hotel till 2.30am - well done us!
