Taormina, Teatro Greco, 28th August 2011.
Our last day in Sicily. Fiorella and Nuccio took Peter and I on a day trip to Taormina. Of course we start the day with a Granita and briosch, but better still we got ripped off at 10 Euros each! Ouch!
We enjoyed a walk along the main drag, window shopping and it is very much Tourist driven and prices are trippled! Beware of being ripped off!
Finally reaching Teatro Greco we enjoy some time exploring this wonderful ancient theatre. Many of these ancient towns were built on mountain tops not only for their vantage points and great views, but so they could defend their cities in the rise of an attack.
For lunch we joined Aunty Mary and our Pulvirenti cousins. Irene had gone to so much trouble with a feast fit enough to feed a community. Rolling back towards the car, we said our goodbyes until we one day we return.
On returning to Fiorella's and Nuccio, Peter and I began to pack our suitcases. My cousins Giovanna, Vera and federica dropped in to bid us farewell.
Yum! Pizza for dinner before rolling into bed for a goodnights rest before departing in the morning.
One nice thing about Sicily's fuel stations they still give full service. How nice is that?
Sicily has so many constructed tunnnels on their freeways and we can't even connect the Eastern Freeway to the Tullamarine...Go Figure!!
