Acireale & Catania Sicily. 27th August 2011
The morning commences with catching up with my cousins Pina, Saro, Giovanna and her husband Orazio Trovato, their children Ciara and Francesco and Zia Graziella for a granita and briosch. I think I have eaten enough Granitas and Briosches to last me a life time. It was time to say goodbye to my relatives, as this truely was the last time until who knows when we next travel again. I have promised my Zia Graziella that it would not be to long before we reunite.
Purchasing some bubble wrap and picking up a shirt we returned to Fiorella and Nucio's for lunch. After lunch Peter and Fiorella wrapped up the huge head from Cartagirone, which was given to us as a gift from Zia Carmen and Zio Roberto. This was to be our burden for the remainder of the trip.
In the evening Peter and I paid for dinner as a thank you for their hospitality and so Nuccio and Fiorella drove us to catania to our cousin Salvatore's restaurant. We shared Pesto Pasta for an entree, Turkey Parmagiana for main course and Sicilian Cassatta for dessert. I must say as far as pasta go, the Italian's cook it better!
After dinner we saw Catania by night and I was able to take a few night photographs of this wonderful city and its beautiful architecture. It was great to see that the piazzas were crowded with hundreds of people giving it a wonderful atmosphere.
On our way home we went via Acireale for a night cap, a Saelze e Limone.
Buona Sera.
