We are spending the next 3 days at Karmi Farm, a beautiful home stay situated on the side of the mountain. We walked part of the way here, it took over 4 hours to walk down to the bottom of the valley, down 5000ft. It certainly took its toll on the knees which were a pretty sore by the end. On the walk we saw such a different side of India I had not seen before. The houses along the walk were situated on the side of the mountains and were painted lovely colours and decorated with lots of flowers. I have not really seen any flowers since arriving in India especially not on peoples houses, it was almost like British country cottages. We then took a jeep up the hill up the other side to the farm.
Karmi Farm is owned by Andrew a part Scottish part India man whose family have lived there for generations and where he now lives and runs the business. Up to 20 people can stay at a time, there is the main house, and several little houses for the guests. Every room has a view over the mountains and down the valley. There is constant hot water which was very exciting and almost unheard of out here. There is a deck outside were you can sit and do nothing, it is hard to imagine a more perfect setting to sit back and relax for a few days.
Apart from a walk around the local area we spend our days here just enjoying being in this peaceful environment. There is plenty of time for reading, listening to music and playing games. After all the stresses and chaos we have been through it is a welcome treat. This is certainly one of my favourite places in India.
