City Palace
It seems that we are visiting lots of beautiful places and if you are not there it is hard to explain them, and it seems a little pointless to try. So you can either look at my pictures (when I get them up) or come here and visit these amazing sites for yourself. However there are some interesting facts about some places, for example it was at the city palace that the King liked to play a game which is an ancient version of ludo. However instead of pieces he used his concubines form the Harem.
Amber Fort
I think this fort is even more impressive than Agra Fort. It seems to be sitting in the lush green mountains, surrounded on all sides by these beautiful rolling hills. It was chosen for its defensive strategic advantage.
Cooperative
This was a shop where they produced the merchandise and you could get it at cheaper price. They create hand made rugs, which to watch someone produce is just the most amazing sight. Each thread is put in place, tied and cut. To create a whole rug it takes 2 people several months. They also create tailor made clothes, pashminas, bedding, anything you would like out of material really.
Bazaars
We went to Bapu Bazaar and Johri Bazaar, these are a cross between a local market and a high street. As you walk down the street you see the same in every few shops but the same item can vary in price form 100 Indian Rupees to 1600 Indian Rupees. The art of bartering is quite fun, but also quite hard to get into. As long as you can look like you are going to leave and you aren't too interested you can usually get the price down.
Bollywood Movie
We went to a massive cinema that is more like a theatre, it could easily seat 1000 people. We watched a film called Tiger, it was a kind of spy/love story. Despite being in Hindi it was fairly easy to follow the gist of the plot line. It was totally different from a cinema in England. There was clapping and cheering and mobile phones going off and people talking. All in all a lot of fun.
