My Family Travels
We made it to Vegas! We left at about 9:30 am yesterday and rode for about 5 1/2 hours. Nothing too eventful on the drive. Just lots of pretty sites. We got to drive over the Hoover Dam. One the way over to Grand Canyon, we will stop at Hoover Dam. Once in Vegas, we checked into our hotel, the Stratosphere. It's fantastic! Our room is great. The swimming pool is very cool. I've never been to a place like this. We spent about 2 hours out at the pool after we got back. The pool is on the 8th floor, outside. It was pretty windy outside. We thought our umbrella was going to fly over on top of us! People watching was absolutly hilarious! Vegas is a great people watching place. We then went down to the Strip. First stop, the Paris hotel. There we went to a super cute cafe for supper. I had the Bleu Cheese burger. Yum yum! We felt like we were in a cute paris cafe. Our plan was to then go outside to have the 3 ft. margarita. But as we were walking around the shops in the hotel, we saw a place for dueling pianos, which would start in 5 minutes. So we all looked at each other and agreed to go in there. It was a little cigar bar, but we could deal. We totally made the right decision. The dueling pianos were so much fun. They played a mixture of songs you would hear on the radio and lots of banter between the two. Actually they made fun of some guys in the audience who were near the front and just smoking by saying "We would rather look at the smoking hott ladies on the couch, than you smoking guys." We were the ladies on the couch. It was really funny. The drinks were also really really good. I had the Midnight in Paris drink, it had coffee, Kaluha, and some other really yummy parts. Nass had Napoleon martini. It had Grey Goose vodka, champagne, and peach schnapps. Both were absolutely amazing! Welke had a glass of very yummy reisling wine. We laughed very hard saying that we were totally not doing what people our age are doing in Vegas. Oh well, we completely enjoyed ourselves. After the dueling pianos we went across the street to he Bellagio to view the dancing foutains We were actually a little disappointed because the song we heard was a Billy Joel song. Usually the fountains dance to classical music. Then we took the bus back to our hotel. End of our first day in Vegas! Wow!
