My Family Travels
This is the last day of our trip. It is both sad and a relief. Sad because I have so enjoyed myself these past two weeks. I love to travel with my husband. It has been such a joy to spend this much time with my in-laws. I am so happy and blessed to be a part of this family. But it will be a relief to get back to my normal routine of home. And the fact of not being in the car for hundreds and hundreds of miles a day! :) Here is what we did today and a few fun facts about our trip.
I wrote earlier about Wall Drug signs. There were no Wall Drug signs yesterday because we were in the state park for a lot of the day. Today I counted the signs from 45 miles away from Wall Drug. There were 61 signs advertising Wall Drug! There were several times that I could see 3-4 signs in one look. Actually I find it a bit fun to watch for these signs. They can be so funny. Of course we had to stop at Wall Drug. I bought my prizes for the 2 people who answered my quiz question the other day. Congrats to Peter Micheel and Erin Chesak! You will love what we got you from Wall Drug! This place is just crazy. I wandered around here more than I ever have. It has some very cheap touristy stuff and then so pretty nice things too. I wanted to maybe find a nice necklace to remember the trip by, but everything I was looking at was way out of my budget.
As we were leaving Wall, SD we entered onto the Badland scenic road. I love this national park. It is so different looking. You are driving in the windy plains and all of a sudden you see this amazing striped formations on the land. It is hard to describe. You just need to see it in pictures. And the pictures don't even do them justice. Paul and I enjoyed remembering back to when we were out here 2 years ago.
Fun Facts:
- Paul and I drove through 9 states and 2 provinces during this trip. Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and South Dakota, and Alberta and British Columbia. Paul drove in all states and provinces but Washington.
- We found almost all the state license plates except for Delaware. We also saw Washington DC and 9 Canadian provinces. Oh Delaware....
- We experienced 3 time zones. Central, Mountain, and Pacific. We weren't in Pacific for too long. We were mostly in Mountain time.
- We drove 4,159 miles in Paul's parents' car. That does not include the 430 miles from our house to their house. So all in all, Paul and I traveled over 5,000 miles for our trip! WOW!
