My Family Travels
I had been waiting for this trip for a long time. It all started when I found out that my best friend, Claire, had a love for Disney, just like I do. So we said someday we will go to Disney together. Then one day we said, why not now? So we planned our trip together.
The day finally came when 2 Disney geek teachers went on our way. This trip could not have gone any better. We had both done a ton of research into the best way to tour and some fun bonus activities. Here is a rundown of my favorite parts from each park.
Magic Kingdom:
This is the iconic park. The first day we were there we were one of the first 20 people in line. Yes, we are just that crazy. When the rope was dropped, we RAN down Main Street. It was just an adrenaline rush to be running down the street. We were able to do every attraction that we wanted to hit before supper. It was quite amazing. One highlight was Tom Sawyer's Island. We had heard that if you find a paintbrush, you will get a prize. So we got in line to try to find the paintbrushes. After about 20 minutes of searching, we we about to give up. I turned the corner, and there it was. A Paintbrush! Woo hoo! We received some FastPasses in exchange for the paintbrushes. Awesome.
Animal Kingdom:
We only did this park for a half day. And that was ok. We did everything that we wanted to within that time. As it was Extra Magic hours, we were able to ride Expedition Everest in the dark. Wow is that ride way better that way.
Hollywood Studios:
The first day we were in this park, it was Star Wars Weekends. I was a little scared to see all the fanatics around the park. But it was way more fun than I had thought. I even got into the spirit by putting my hair into Princess Leia buns. They didn't stay too long. We got right into the festivities by watching the parade, getting pictures taken, and just enjoying the crazy Star Wars atmosphere. We were also able to get to this park on a non-Star Wars day. This was nice so that we could do more of the attractions, than the Star Wars activities. We absolutely loved Toy Story Midway Mania. I could have ridden that ride many times. Another favorite is definitely Fantasmic. What a great show with fireworks.
Epcot:
My favorite park! I really could spend every day here and not get sick of it. The World Showcase is so detail oriented. It is so easy to spend several hours just wandering around the displays, soaking in the entertainment, and eating/drinking from each pavilion. During this trip we were not able to spend as much time as I wanted to. Claire and I did try to get a picture with a hat from each country. We almost made it. Except the Mexico pavilion was closed right after Illuminations (the fireworks show). Speaking of Illuminations, what a great show. Even better than Fantasmic. Actually way better. Every time I watch the show, I get tears in my eyes. I am someone who is not very impressed with fireworks. But this show is the perfect blend of music, fireworks, and choreography! Absolutely wonderful.
Downtown Disney:
We spent a few hours down here. There really isn't a ton to do here if you don't want the night life. We ate lunch here and wandered several stores.
Resorts:
We loved touring the many resorts around the parks. There is so much detail in each resort. I absolutely loved the Animal Kingdom Lodge where we took in a night viewing of the animals. Also we had a huge sundae at Beaches and Cream, a restaurant in the Beach Club resort. Every day we took in 2-3 new resorts.
All in all, this was a fantastic trip. I loved every minute of it, even though I was completely exhausted every night. That is the best way to do Disney!
I cannot wait for my next trip here. And trust me, there will be a next trip!
