After breakfast we headed to the Valley of the Moon. The area is very photogenic with sand dunes, rugged rock formations formed by wind erosion and long shadows. It was here I decided to scatter some of Ed’s ashes. We did a small hike up a rock formation to get some excellent views of the dunes. On our return to San Pedro a religious parade was in full swing. It went through the main streets with dancers in traditional dress, a band and statues being carried aloft. Sue, Chaz, Keith and I then went and had a burger and a beer at Roots, a local cafe. Finally a visit to the little market as we needed food for tomorrow’s all night bus to La Serena. Tomorrow we leave at 5am for the hot springs. I expect it to be very cold up there as we are going up to over 4000 meters again.
