Today we left early to tour the volcanoes and beautiful blue lakes. Our guide Rodriquez and driver Oscar prepared a wonder breakfast of egg sandwich, juice and coffee. We stopped to photograph the extensive salt lakes against a backdrop of snowy volcanoes. There are many small oases hidden in deep gorges. At 4,000 meters we walked a gradual descent over the plateau, also known as the Altiplano. On our way back we stopped at an old Inca settlement with terraces still being used by the people who live there.
