We are now in Mackay but leaving today after just 1 night. It is a dump and not a place that I would want to come back to. It took us about 7 hours to get here yesterday from 1770 and we are a lot further north now, we are in the tropics. We are now in crocodile country so I will be sending Lou in the water first to check things out before I go in.
We had a couple of nights in a cabin in 1770, I wasn't very well so I couldn't face staying in a dorm. We didn't do much but it was nice to relax around the pool and read for a bit.
We are going to Eungella National Park today and camping in the rainforest tonight before heading up to Airlie Beach. There are supposed to be platypus in this National Park and neither of us have ever seen one in the wild so we are going to try to spot one later. We haven't used the tent since Adelaide about 2 months ago so I hope we remember how to set it up. I'm knackered after staying up for the FA Cup Final as well, I feel half asleep.
