So a 30km walk into Oloron Sainte Marie. On arrival I find that the whole town has no electricity due to a fire at a substation. Checked in to the hotel and had a walk to see if I could find a bar which might have some electricity or at least have beer in barrels, therefore no need for power - remember those days? I found a very seedy bar which appeared have their clientele who had escaped from some film maturity remaking the bar scene from Star Wars!! They were selling Luke warm bottled beer but it seemed OK for the locals so it was ok for me. I spent a little time in the bar having a few bottles whilst taking in the scene. Some very strange characters with one lady in particular sitting at a table without a drink but staring at me as if to say " we don't serve your sort in here". The guy in a booth near me was drinking Red Bull through a straw in a glass. I went to the loo and found that it was a communal toilet whether you wanted to sit down or stand up - and there was no light! Anyway got back to the hotel and the landlady had made somehow made me dinner which was very nice.
