Camino 3
What was supposed to be a relatively benign walk of 16km somehow turned in to a torrid 30km walk. The walking notes said that it was dangerous in parts as it was unsuitable for bikes being 50cm wide in parts with drops of 40metres to the river below. They weren't kidding! Thankfully it was dry but it would be very dangerous had it been raining. I letter met a Danish lady who has walked all over the world and she reckons it was the most dangerous walk she had been on. During the course of it I met a couple with a young boy of about 7 years old and with a donkey coming the other way. I could hardly stand up in places So I don't know how they coped. Finally got to Bedous and found my place of rest for the night. It was an old mansion which was more like the Munster mansion. I was greeted by an old lady who showed me to my room. No room key, shared toilet and very dark. It was like a museum. I went for a walk round town and found very little apart from a supermarket. I bought a couple of packets of French Jaffa biscuits, some chocolate and some Heineken tins. I couldn't get in the place when I got back so knocked on the door a few times before an old gentleman appeared from nowhere and let me in. The old lady earlier in the day said that dinner was at 7.30. I went downstairs at 7.30 and knocked on the door of their lounge room. The lady was nowhere to be seen and the old chap denied all knowledge of dinner being supplied. However, then said it was possible and that I should sit in the breakfast room. After 40 minutes I decided not to hang around but to go to my room and have a feats of Jaffa cakes and Heineken. The good thing was that I had the best nights sleep. I went down for breakfast and the old lady was now present. She gave me breakfast and not a word of dinner last night was spoken. I got out of their pretty quickly!
