Camino 3
The plan was to take the train out of Toulouse to Pibrac and start the walk from there. However, as my alarm went off at 5.30 and it was forecasted to be a hot day I decided to get a cab to Pibrac instead and start walking before it got too hot. That proved to be a good move in the end. Most of the walk was through the forest and this trek doesn't have anywhere near the signage and yellow arrows as the main Camino. So I took the wrong turn somewhere along the way. I came across a couple of lovely French ladies who took pity on me and walked with me for 3km to get me back on track. One of them even offered to drive me to my next destination but I politely declined. It got up to 33 degrees by the time I reached d'isle Jourdain. I decided to have some lunch before checking in to my hotel which was 1.5km off the track. When I got there nobody was to be seen but the door was open so I let myself in. After some considerable time decided that I really needed to have a shower and change my clothesline drank alcohol, because, apparently some people don't. so I had a wander to see if there was a room open with my bag inside; and yes there was. So I jumped into the shower and had lie on the bed before the lady of the house knocked on the door to see if everything was OK. I felt a bit like Goldilocks! It's a beautiful place and it is the owners own residence and she is a chef so dinner is at 8 o'clock. So dinner was outside in the alfresco which was also the outdoor area under Le pigeoniere. It was cleared with me that I drank alcohol because apparently some people don't? An aperitif and then a beautiful dinner. All under what was explained to me was a couple of tons of pigeon droppings which are used as fertiliser on the crops. It seems that Elynis is one of the daughters of the area which owns all of the properties. Her father, brother and sister each have houses in the estate. The house we are in used to be the cow shed but many francs and euros later has improved it no end. She has also restored the roof on the pigeoniere to the same design as it was 200 years ago. Happy pigeons.
