Hola otra vez mas!!

Bueno despues seguimos a Phuket. Siempre escucho k cuando la gente va de vacaciones a Thailandia, la mayoria va a Phuket asi k tenia mucho interes de ir. Ademas los padres de Julie vinieron a pasar la navidad con ella pero pasaron una semana en Phuket asi k tambien fuimos a verlos.

Bueno como iba un poco triste en el barco de Koh Tao Julie me dio una pastilla para dormir y entiendo por k la gente depende de eso! Nunca e dormido tambien K es curioso por estabamos en el suelo, encima del motor con como 40 grados durmiendo en una maya de bamboo con un thailandes tratando de abrazarme toda la noche!!! Pero todas estas cosas son parte de la experincia!

Phuket fue una gran desillusion, me sentia como k estaba en la costa del sol como en Fuengirola o algo asi, nada k ver con el resto de Thailandia, no tiene el enchanto del pais, demasiado turistico, commercial y muy preparado para el mundo para los extranjeros.

Los padres de Julie en todo caso me trataron muy bien y me invitaron a todo por las 2 noches k esuvimos ahi. Ademas nos alojaron en el hotel de ellos, de 5 estrellas! Cuando llegamos un hombre nos tomo las mochilas, y nosostras nos mirabamos y no soltabamos la mochila, yo pensaba k me estaba robando o algo asi, despues medi cuenta k era el k se hace cargo de los bolsos!! En la reception nos dieron una toallita mojada (como en el avion) y un cocktail de frutas y un ramo de flores. Nosotras alucinando, como campesinas, no estabamos acostumbradas a tanto lujo!!

Bueno Julie tambien se porto muy bien por k ella no veia a sus padres por 2 meses pero nunca me dejo de lado y nunca me senti como k no deveria estar ahi, asi k todos se portaron muy bien conmigo : )

La isla en general es horrible, mi consejo para alguien k va de vaccaciones es k no vallan a Phuket, demasiado Europeo. Pero para nosotras bien por k pudimos descansar en un hotel bonito, duchas calientes, banio con cadena (estamos acustumbradas a usar un cubo de agua!!) Los padres nos llevaron a restaurantes bonitos, pude comer gambas y pescado!! Nos llevaron al restaurant de un cocinero famoso Ingles Keith Floyd asi k eso estuvo super bien!!

Si la familia se portaron muy bien conmigo, y Eve la madre de Julie hacia bromas k me iba adoptar por los 2 dias por k yo tambien habia estado muy lejos de mi mama por 2 meses!

Me gusto conocer el sitio por curiosidad pero s muy diferente al resto the Thailandia y la verdad k no para mi gusto!!

Well moving on, took the night death boat out of Koh Tao to mainland because its about a 6hr journey so there's little point doing it during the day. I was still a little sad on the boat so Jules gave me a sleeping pill which completely knocked me out!! I ve never slept so well in my life which is surprising as due to Jules' fab timekeeping we were the last on the boat so we were above the engine, it was like 40 degrees, we were on the floor on a bamboo mat & I had a old thai guy trying to spoon me all night-ahhh the joys of being on the road! Its funny because ive got a little green over the shoulder bag that has everything important in it, ie. Passport, credit cards ect.. & During the night I was thinking oooh i don't know where that bag is...but i didn't care or couldn't bring myself to open my eyes & look for it more like, luckily it was there next to me when we got to mainland.

Ive always wanted to go to Phuket as it seems the place where everyone goes on holiday to & everyone loves it! I also knew a lot about it from the tsunami and stuff. Also Julie's parents came over for xmas & new yr but first they were in Phuket for 2 wk so obviously she wanted to see them so it all fitted perfectly.

In general I was completely disillusioned with Phuket, someone called it costa del Clapham & that is very fitting!! Its so built up, so commercial, full of chavy English tourists, massive resorts, I didn't bother going to the beach but Ive seen people's pictures & its like a beach in spain, umbrellas & loungers everywhere, completely packed with kids throwing sand around!! It lacks al the charm that the other islands have & doesn't give you a taste or feel for the real Thailand.

Having said that Jules's parents were so lovely to me, obviously they put Julie up in their 4 start resort but they didn't have to do that for me yet they did, they took me out to dinner on both nights, basically treated me no different to Julie which was lovely of them. Jules was also lovely because she hadn't seen them in almost 2 months but she never ,made me feel like she didn't want me there, in fact she was just as lovely as always!

When we got to the hotel in our peasant fishermens trousers, dusty from our boat ride & sweating like overgrown chickens, the bellboy (yes people a bellboy!!!!) took our backpacks & me & Jules were looking at each other bemused thinking whats this dude doing?? Thats my bag!!! We were almost fighting with him, very unsophisticated, anyway we clocked eventually & let him take our bags, it was so weird to be waited on like that. At reception we were given a hot towel & fruit cocktails with little flowers in the glass, I swear we were looking at each other like Oh my god we're home baby!!!!!

Our room was lush with a kitchen, hot shower, flushing toilet, massive double bed, HAIRDRYER (I almost hyperventilated over this) fridge, living room, I swear we kept losing each other in there! The place had 2 pools, one with a bar in the pool-oooh i love that!! & Eve (Jules's mum) bought us strawberry cocktails so we were proper spoilt! The breakfast buffet was to die for as well, thats were we made our money back-Ross from friends style!!

Steve & Eve took us to Keith Floyds restaurant where we were greeted by a lovely ladyboy, the place was soooo lovely (& posh) instead of our usual rice or noodles I had prawns which I'd been dying for since I left home, it was a lovely evening with live music & like I said her parents are just lovely & mad too so we got on hahaha!!!

They also brought with them news from home, magazines-OK magazine!!! Oh to hear about Britney again & to read all that crap by the pool was wicked, they also brought with them ....drumroll please.......my GHD's (hair straighteners to u boys!) How did I ever think I could survive without them?!? But survive I did for 2 months!!

So yeah Phuket was generally family time, well for Jules anyway, it did make me miss my mum so much as well-oooh i wish she could have come to Thailand!! Never mind though.

Anyway our flashpacker lifestyle soon came to an end when we went to the land of 'The Beach' & in search of lush Leonardo in Koh Phi Phi!
