Hi guys!
Well ive left Bangkok which to be honest I wasnt too bothered with as it really is the sort of place you cant be in for too long, especially as my first destination! It was a massive culture shock, everything from the begging to the smells, so noisy & full of travellers!
We were hanging out with a german guy for a bit, Alex, he was really nice, hopefully we'll bump into him again at some point! But yeah a few nights ago we met with him & Julie's cousinn Chris, went out for a few bevvies & headed for Patpong (Bngkok's red light district) Now im going to try & be as polite as possible for the next bit but oh my god!
The girls put on shows where they perform tricks, like smoking a cigarette, popping balloons, shooting darts using only their....vagina! Its not even remotely erotic, its a complete freak show! You really have to see it to believe it. When I walked in a woman was actually pulling out a string with razor blades on it, I cant explain how or why but I tell you its true!
Next day we visited the Grand Palace, the reclining Buddah which is 46m in width & 18 m high-its massive! Went into some temples & of course even though ive read about the do's & donts I managed to commit 2 massive faux pas, first was that I had bare shoulders, but it was 35 degrees yersterday, anyway they lent me a scarf to wrap around myself but worse was that whilst sitting in a temple I pointed my foot at the Buddah which is the most disrespectful thing you can do here! It was completely accidental mind, I was trying to get comfortable, anyway luckily they didnt tell me off too much!
Anyway on from the madness of Bangkok, we've travelled to Kanchanaburi, its about a 2 hr journey north west of Bangkok & I can tell you that this place is massively chilled out in comparison. Im currently in a room where im sharing a toilet with all sorts of creatures as theres a massive hole in the wall, the flush system is the good old fill the bucket with water & pour method-NICE!, i can see daylight through the roof as its made of bamboo-hope it doesnt rain tonight! & theres a lovely swamp outside! The place is full of mossies, so mosquito net is deffo up tonight especially as im not on anti malaria meds!
Anyway sorry for lack of pics, finally bought a camera yesterday, Julie has bangkok pictures so i'll steal them & put them on soon, then you can see how shocking I look : )
Anyway guys I'll leave it for today, hope you're all well
Caz xx
