Capitol Tour, National Portrait Museum
Yesterday Rebecca and I were sick and unable to do anything so we took a day off and hit the National Portrait Gallery and Capitol today. Unfortunately neither of us were back to normal though so Rebecca and I barely made it through. We went through a portion of the Portrait Gallery where we actually got to see Dolores Huerta - a leader of the of the farmers workers. She created the Ag Workers Association and co-founded the United Farm Workers. There was an exhibit related to her and they were doing a television piece on her that we saw being filmed as well. Small bit of excitement!
After our short visit to the gallery we went up to the Capitol to take our tour. Our guide was a fellow Californian and was fun and upbeat which helped offset the craziness of throngs of people all around us. We enjoyed all that we saw but we left wanton to see the rest as there are many areas we did not get to see. I suppose that will have to be another time if we get a congressional personal tour. I had really wanted to go the Library of Congress but as Rebecca and I barely made it through the Capitol without passing out (I was offered a trip to the nurse in fact) that we went through the tunnel from the Capitol to the library but that was all she wrote!
