We are just loving London so far and we are feeling really quite settled now. Nobody can believe how quickly we found a place to live and got everything organised but we had done our homework to ensure we wouldn't struggle with things.
We are trying to get as much sight seeing done while we are not working so we've been hopping on and off tubes following our lonely planet guide to see the main attractions here. On Saturday we went to The British Museum which is simply spectacular. It is the home to six million artefacts, ranging from small archaeological fragments to massive objects from past and contemporary cultures. It has over seventy galleries and a huge range of extraordinary objects that just blew us away. It was almost too much to take in all at once so we will want to re-visit here at some point. From here we wandered around and found ourselves in Chinatown so we decided to have a late lunch here before we caught the tube home for a quiet Saturday night in.
Dave (my brother) arrived in London yesterday and his partner Vanessa arrived a couple of days ago so we caught up with them last night. They came over to our place for drinks and nibbles before we headed down to The Grove which is a local bar/restaurant in a small grouping of shops very close to us. It hasn't been that long since we were staying with them in Singapore but was great to see them. They seemed very impressed with our little place and the area we are living in. We watched some athletics on the big screen at the bar and saw Usain Bolt make an Olympic record and win the 100m Final. It was an awesome atmosphere and special to be with Dave and Ness.
Unfortunately we don't have broadband Internet installed yet so I can't upload any photos but will do this once we get this sorted when we get back from the South of France. It is lucky I have my iPad which we bought a sim card for so we can still get onto the Internet using 3G and we can also use our phones. We really do rely on the Internet these days don't we!
We are off to see Russell perform his lead role in Top Hat on the Westend tonight which we are very excited about. I'll let you know all about it in my next blog!
