We had a bit of a late start this morning because everyone had a bit of a sleep in after having a fairly late night watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony. I have been getting up super early ever since I arrived here but this has given me the opportunity to catch up on a few emails and things and update my blogs and photos. I think I might still be adjusting to the different time zone but I am also a little unsettled being in a new place and thinking about all sorts of things that we need to organise and plan so we are comfortable and settled as soon as possible.
Amber had the day free today so we had a lovely afternoon out with her. We walked to Shepherd's Bush station via our new place so we could show her how close it was. She seemed very impressed and happy that we will be living so close!
We caught the tube to Liverpool Street where we went to Old Spitalfields which is one of London's finest Victorian market halls. Set in an historic location in the heart of the City it is one of the crown jewels of East London. Firmly established as the 'must visit' London attraction for Londoners and tourists alike, Old Spitalfields market offers a fusion of Victorian splendor and contemporary architecture. Bringing together some of the Capital's finest restaurants, shops and an array of themed stall market days. We wandered around and I bought a couple of things then we had a gorgeous Greek meal at a restaurant called 'The Real Greek'. Just perfect!
After this we decided we would head to Covent Garden to have a look there which was very cool! On the way we passed some theatres including the Aldwych Theatre where Russell is performing in 'Top Hat' so we took some photos of him and the cast that were displayed on the outside of the theatre. I will add these to the album I upload today. We are going to see Russell perform a lead role in this on Monday 6th August which Andrew and I are very much looking forward to. Very exciting!
Covent Garden is a busy, bustling area that has interesting shops, restaurants and much more to see. We were lucky enough to see the Arts and Crafts Market that is open on Saturday and Sundays and I will definitely be going back here. I have to keep reminding myself that we are planning to be here for two years so I have plenty of time to re-visit all these special places we have seen.
It was then time to make our way back home so we hopped on the tube and headed back to the flat for a quiet night in. We are not very hungry after our lovely Greek meal we had so we will just nibble tonight. It was so nice to see a little bit more of the City and there is tonnes more to see. I love our new home so far!
