Cam and De do Australia
Well Onlsow is certainly not a dazzling town to say the least, it is a small mining town that consists of 667 people and most of them are there for work. There really isn't too much to talk about but one thing it did have was lots of beautiful wildflowers one of them i like to call the Hummingbird tree and this cute little plant is actually found exclusively in Onslow.
We were also lucky enough to catch the last night of the staircase to the moon which we didn't realise you could see from Onlsow as it is known for mainly being seen in Broome but as we would miss it in Broome we would take what we could get and it may not have been quite as magnificent but it was still beautiful. For those of you who have never heard of the staircase to the moon, it is basically an illusion when the sun sets and reflects off of the water and the mangrove trees creating the illusion of a staircase to the moon.
Even with Onlsow not having a lot of character per say it was interesting to get a glimpse of how people live in these small mining towns. It mainly is consisting of men, and many of them living in the caravan parks some with there families, some flying in and out. We even got to experience the Monthly meat truck that came to town for people to stock up on their supplies. It did take me a few minutes trying to figure out exactly how this worked but it was a great idea and was actually really well set up with really nice produce. Perfect timing for us to pick up a few things on our way out to Point Sampson.
