Denham Is about 26k outside of Monkey Mia, which is the main attraction in the area. Denham itself is a nice little touristy beach side town. As our caravan park was not the best we've had we decided to spend our first night down at the beach with a bottle of wine and a few chairs in the sand watching cam try to catch a fish and watch the sun disappear for another night.

Monkey Mia……surely there has to be monkeys right? Oh no of course not…. Monkey Mia is famous for Dolphins yes thats right Dolphins. Strange i know, I'm really not sure who decided on the name but they certainly missed the mark a bit maybe having a few too many vino's before deciding on a good name or they let there 5 year old take over on the naming process of the town. Albeit confusing it was surely beautiful and we did get to see some beautiful little dolphins coming out to say good morning. As we arrived people had already been lining up on the beach awaiting the arrival of these fascinating creatures coming in for their morning feed. On our little wait for the Dolphins to make there way in, we even got to meet a little turtle trying to say hello before the Dolphins came in and stole the show. And that is just what they did the little showoffs. But who doesn't love to see these little guys really. These Dolphins have been coming to Monkey Mia for many years all having names and well known personalities to the workers. They were explaining that the Dolphins really come in out of curiosity and the enjoyment for the socialising. Imagine crowds forming twice a day to wave say hello and feed you! Not a bad gig if you ask me!

Back to Deham with a stop to see the oldest living fossils on earth Stromatolites. These organisms have helped scientists unravel the history of life on earth. They can only be seen in three places on earth one being Hamelin pool and the other two being in the Bahamas. Now these sound pretty amazing and they are for what they have done and continue to do for us everyday but as anything that is over 3 billion years old they looked pretty ordinary really. But they have influenced evolution by breathing oxygen into the atmosphere being fuelled by the sun. These little Microbial mats have been clever enough to outlive the mass distinction of Dinosaurs. So even though they are a bit boring to look at they certainly deserve a lot of credit!

Just around the corner is Shell Beach and you guessed it, its a beach with shells! Not just a few shells this whole beach is a bit deceiving, at first glance this beach looks like it has the whitest pristine sand but at a closer look it is billions of tinny little white shells. It really was beautiful, i have never seen so many shells. Apparently this is shell heaven, this is where they all come to die. Not a bad spot to spend your last days thats for sure.

Our last night we are off to dinner at the bowls club for a beautiful Roast dinner and a glass of vino!
