Carnarvon is the beginning of what they call the Gascoyne food trail. Littered with plantations that produce millions of dollars annually, including more than half of western Australia's Bananas and about 70% of Perth's winter vegetables many of them being Organic.

Being there in july meant for us that we missed out on Mangos and Bananas and a few others but there was plenty of other fruits are veg to keep us going including a few we had never ever heard of before. Such as chocolate pudding fruit and soursop. Chocolate pudding fruit looked exactly like chocolate pudding but was just missing the chocolate flavour. Soursop had a very interesting story to it though, it was found deep in the Amazonian rain forest from the Graviola Tree and it has been proven that it has very strong anticancer properties. In fact it is meant to be 10,000 times stronger than chemo and only attacks healthy cells. Now obviously I am not a scientist to prove these claims but apparently one of America's biggest drug companies spent 7 years trying to synthesise the two main anticancer ingredients but were unsuccessful. And because the Graviola is completely natural they cannot patent it and make money off of it so they shelved the research, not publishing any of it and when back to Adriamycin (the commonly used Chemo drug) I found this fascinating and couldn't help but read further into it, it has quite an interesting story.
Just north of Carnarvon we stopped at the blowholes at Point Quobba, which depending on the swells the spray can reach up the 20 meters high. This would explain why we may have been a bit nervous when Cam was getting up close to the coast trying to get good photos. Red Bluff was also a beautiful little oasis at the end of a very long corrugated dirt road. But it was worth the drive, it really was beautiful! Consisting mainly of lots of surfers and fishermen, there was even someone who was camping out in one of the little caves on the beach, consisting of a sleeping bag and a guitar, the necessities i guess. Denz and i were really just hoping he knows the tides well, that could make for an interesting alarm clock! Our last night we went down to the local Croatian club for a night out and had a lovely spit roast dinner a great way to finish it off and get ready for another drive tomorrow to Coral Bay. After all that Carnarvon had to offer my favourite thing about it could possibly still have been the chocolate coated frozen bananas! Yummo!
