Cycled over the mountains, towards Gap.
Quiet roads and stunning scenery. Neither of us had ever ridden through such terrain. Around every bend was a new ‘wow!’ Although some of the climbs were long and tough under the hot sun. The longest climb was around 2 hours duration.
Mid-morning, we came across a group of bungee-jumpers, preparing to jump from a metal arched bridge over a deep canyon. Looking over the edge was dizzying.
We failed to reach out target, Gap. We fell short because we’d overestimated how far we could travel through the mountains.
So we’ve found a mountain lodge, way, way, way up above the town of Corps, on La Route de Napoleon.
Quick swim and sauna. Now we’re off to find whether any food is available up here.
