Cannes!
Motivated by being in sight of the end we blasted out the last sixty or so miles - mostly in the top chainring all day.
To be fair, it was mostly flat, although when you get to Fréjus, there’s a mountain to cross before you can get to Cannes: the 614m Mont Vinaigre did offer stiff resistance under the afternoon sun. The climb took around an hour. On the plus side, there were great views from the top and the decent into Cannes was great.
Within a short time of checking into a hotel, we were out on the beach and having a swim.
In all we clocked up around 1,400k from Caen. It’s been a great trip and one we’ll remember.
Tonight? This is Cannes! Home of ‘The Rich and Famous’. Maybe we’ll spot one or two tonight? I wonder where DiCaprio eats?
Tomorrow, we’ll jump on a train and spend a few days not cycling in the Languedoc.
