I was not really excited about oyster tasting when I read it on the itinerary.
Turned out to be a fabulous day!!
Stopped at Ston.
But first of all we had this magnificent view of the defensive stone wall surrounding the town and going up over the mountain ... Out of sight.
Then all onto this small boat.
A small ( strong) drink started the proceedings as we chugged out to look at old oyster beds and new oyster beds.
Now, I missed which was which.
Fascinating story and history to it all though.
Been happening for centuries.
It was so much fun on the boat.
Absolutely everyone was laughing and talking.
Then we pulled up next to an old raft and they pulled ropes up out of the water covered in oyster shells and proceeded to open them and serve them on plates.
There were mussels as well.
And as many as you could eat.
Much discussion about are you having some?
And ...
No I did not.
They were still alive.
( I could hear them screaming!)
I know people will say I should have.
But I couldn't.
Cooked ?
Oh, yes.
I can do that.
This?
No way.
So people were thrilled.
More to go round.
Quite a few didn't.
But we laughed and took photos.
( The wine helped.)
Back on the boat to the most beautiful outdoor restaurant overlooking the water.
We were here about 2 hours.
I thought of you Greg, Daryl and Emily.
You would have all absolutely LOVED this!!!
All those oysters!!
Great day.
So relaxing.
Then onto Dubrovnik!!
