Magnificent day.
Sun.
Slight cool breeze.
Absolutely perfect view of the town.
I started off on the walking tour this morning but decided I wanted to sit and enjoy the space.
( Also, may have enjoyed Dubrovnik just a fraction too much yesterday evening.)
So decided to relax with a view.
So I turned round and found the perfect spot on a shady terrace at the Hotel.
This is where I rang you from, Emily and Mum.
What a view!
Been catching up on the blog and just gazing.
Walked around the old town yesterday afternoon and evening.
Found the Buza Bar!!!!
What an amazing spot.
Looked at sights and views and magnificent old walls.
Saw a Wedding.
Marvelled at the pigeons in the holes in the old walls.
Watched a lady gardening.
( She was pulling small weeds out of her part of the wall.)
Wandered.
And just absolutely loved it.
Ended up at the Buza Bar.
Highly recommended by Andrew.
I remember when you sent me that photo, Andrew and said I absolutely had to go there!
We had a lovely time.
Overlooking the water.
And, basically, making sure we didn't fall in.
What a place to sit and contemplate life!
So still sitting and gazing, I realised that the walking tour included the cable car ride to the mountain above Dubrovnik, with the spectacular views down over the city.
b*****.
So, nothing for it, I'd better go find it.
After lunch.
( Check out the photo of lunch.)
By the way, I am writing this laying on my bed after sitting on the terrace watching the most amazing sunset over Dubrovnik.
Remember how I missed music?
My windows are open wide and, on the terrace below, there is a guitarist and lady singer ...
Singing wonderful old songs.
( I can hear you in Logistics.
Not that old.
I am considering calling down with a request for '76 Trombones' though.)
Anyway, lunch over, off I went.
It is 30 degrees today so a very warm walk.
No queue so into the cable car and 4 minutes later, the most amazing sight looking over the town and Adriatic.
You could really see the walled town from up there.
Loved it.
OK.
Uphill walk to the hotel.
That pool is looking very good.
So I swam on and off for 2 hours, mainly in the pool.
I did climb down the ladder and had a very salty swim in the Adriatic though.
That was amazing.
5pm.
Off to walk the wall.
WOW!
So, so old.
Thick, thick walls.
Magnificent stone work.
And you would not believe the views from up there.
And I have never seen so much terracotta.
As far as the eye could see.
I really loved this.
Stopped at a beautiful little cafe on the wall.
Had an ice cream.
( Yep. They're back.)
Saw the Buza Bar from the wall.
Bought a beautiful bracelet.
On the wall of Dubrovnik, no less!
Oh ... and I bought a print.
Hot dog in town.
Walked up the hill.
Watched the sunset.
That's it.
I haven't found the moon, Amanda.
I had better do some serious looking!
Fairly early night I hope.
Oh.
Tried to take money out.
The machine is saying my bank is offline.
That could be interesting.
Andrew, where exactly does Igor live?
( I could learn to ride a scooter.)

Amanda Phillips Hi Carolyn,You're in fabulous Dubrovnik! Amazing and wow to infinity!Make sure you have a swim at that beach, it looks amazing. How is the moon, nearly full!Cheers Amanda
Andrew Browning Buza Bar or the "hole-in-the-wall" Buza Bar is one of the most beautiful bars in Dubrovnik which is hanged on the cliffs right above the sea, with an amazing view of the open Adriatic. It is also known as the "hole-in-the-wall" and it is the essence of Dubrovnik, where foreigners become domestics. In the old Dubrovnik dialect, buža means “hole”. And truly, to get to this unique café bar, you have to go through the hole-in-the-wall that leads to a swimming and relaxing spot that is a daily stop for many of the people who live within Dubrovnik's thick, protective city walls.During the spring and summer months, this attractive little café bar opens its door to the public. Here you will find conveniently placed tables at which you may linger over a cold drink while enjoying marvellous sunsets, the view at the historic island of Lokrum, and the stark hills of Southern Dalmatia. The minimal architectural enhancements transformed the steep and otherwise inaccessible cliffs into a simple and safe site at which guests can enjoy the natural beauty of this exceptionally unique location. ~~~ AND CAROLYN ARCH WAS THERE JUNE 2016~~~

Andrew Browning Hi Carolyn,I think you must have “added” to this entry…. What a great day and the weather is just perfect, you have a few hot days this week Igor tells me. Sitting relaxing on a shady terrace sounds like a marvellous idea to me, what a location to that in!Nooo…….the cable car…....oh you found it after the long walk and up the steep hill - ah just around the corner, seems a funny place for a terminal doesn’t it, but very well organized. In you get, a huge glass box and what a view of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic, then you get to the top… even better Did you go to the museum on Mt Srd? Hey, your pool looks fantastic!!!, love the tunnel to it, what views you have everywhere ..it’s unreal in so many ways – Beautiful at every turn. Yeah you walked the city wall, it’s an inspiring walk (after you finish the steeps to get there) wonderful views, up, down, across, ahead, just amazing. No rush, wander, gaze, photos……and yes little shops in the cracks in the wall. ~~WELL DONE YOU~~ I thought you would enjoy Dubrovnik and I think I can say YOU HAVE!!So much to take in, I can see it all in the photos.Wonderful.Keep enjoying it, sit and have a drink in the old town and watch the passing parade of life. Hope you’ve been climbing over the entire place looking for the post it note I left, had Igor’s address on it. One word: ENVIOUS (Hey, wanna go back on our long service?) Brilliant memories. AndrewXx
