After a bit of a lie in, we packed up and set off for our final stop in New Zealand, Auckland. As we had already spent some time there before over Christmas, there wasn't much we wanted to see. We had initially planned to do some more booking and planning in the library but they were all shut due to the New Years public holidays which they have until the 4th Jan.
On arriving in Auckland, we parked up and did a little stock up of items we were running low on for our next few locations. We were heading to Fiji the next day and I actually couldn't wait! We desperately needed to sort out the van and our backpacks before tomorrow morning too so we decided to find a campsite and organise ourselves mid afternoon. We found a lovely little campsite called Takapuna Beach Holiday Park right on the beach front for 42 dollars. We started the process of unloading the entire van, chucking out stuff we didn't need, repacking and cleaning. I couldn't believe our New Zealand trip was coming to an end but we had exciting things ahead!
Somehow, even after chucking out at least 10 items, my bag was even more full than when we started and weighed at least 17-18 kilos. I just couldn't get rid of any more clothes at that point, we still had so many hot places to go to. That evening, once all the hard work was done, we decided to end our last night with a meal out. We walked to Takapuna town centre and found a little bar/pub where we both had the specials-Steak! We cheers'd to the most amazing month together travelling New Zealand and the wonderful memories we had made, I'm sure we won't forget then any time soon!
On arriving back at the campsite, in the pouring rain, a little ice cream shop was just about to close. We darted in and ended our night wolfing down two massive ice creams between us in the rain! Last night in our little camper Jimi before he becomes someone else's little home, I would miss this so much!
