Feeling refreshed, we made our way further south towards Auckland. We didn't really want to spend two full days in Auckland as there wasn't all that much there that we wanted to see or do. On route, we came across a coastal town called Waipu. As the weather was pretty good, we decided to stop for lunch at Waipu cove beach and spend a few hours sunning ourselves.
The beach was stunning, it went on for as far as I could see, it must have been miles long! The sea was perfect, with great waves too. We sat and chilled there for a few hours, it was a weird feeling to think that our incredible adventure in New Zealand would be shortly coming to an end but we felt like we had absolutely done everything we set out to do here and more! I couldn't believe just how much we had fitted into one month! We had spent a small fortune but it had been worth every penny!
That evening we drove to a cheap and basic campsites right on the beach front called Uretiti beach camping ground. It was the sort of place Kiwi families and friends would come and set up camp for a week or two as it was only 28 dollars a night for two of us. The facilities were basic but clean. We found a lovely little spot and unpacked our camping gear. I cooked us a huge portion of tomato pasta and cheese as we were trying to use up the last of what we had left. We sat out on our camping chairs with tea and read our books whilst the sun was setting before calling it a night. This is one of my favourite times of the day!
