We started today with a visit to the David Leach Pottery in St. Ives. An English potter, born in Japan, he was trained as a potter by his father's friend Shoji Hamada. He worked in his father's pottery business before going out on his own. We couldn't visit Cornwall without visiting a tin mine. They are all closed now however one of them, the Geevor Tin Mine, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and is set up as a museum. While travelling through Cornwall we would often could see The Lizard peninsula so we decided some time at Lizard Point was necessary especially as it is very close to the most southern point in the UK. As yesterday's fog prevented us from seeing the best of the town we stayed put and wandered further afield around it. This took us to a couple of the beaches - Porthmeor and Porthminster. We didn't get to Carbis Bay which is a huge beach but could see it in the distance. These are the first sandy beaches we have come across and we can see why people come to this region for holidays.
