I woke up at 5.30am, the train stopped for a little while at around 5.45am when everyone else woke up. We'd all had similar amounts of sleep and were all really tired. We still had quite a way to go until our stop, the guy came round and changed the beds back into seats which made it a little easier to talk. After the first stop in Bangkok it was another hour before getting to Bangkok's main train station. When we got off the train we were going to book our tickets for the train to Cambodia for tomorrow but were told you can't book tickets for this journey plus it's bank holiday for Thailand so it's going to be busy because Thai people ride the train for free. We decided to think about that dilemma later and concentrate on getting somewhere to stay tonight. When we got off the train Sam and Steph said they knew of a cheap place which they stayed at last time they were in Bangkok. It was really hard at the train station to try and get a taxi to take all four of us and our bags. One lady just said no and a policeman came to help by making her take the ride. We got dropped off, found the guesthouse and checked in straight away. This was great seen as it was only 8.00am still, next we decided to go on the look out for breakfast. We walked back out of the guesthouse to get a taxi, the sun had gone from this morning and it looked very dark outside. We got the taxi to Khao San Road, it wasn't that far but in that time it had started to throw it down with rain. The only place we could see that was open for food was McDonalds so we ran for it. We sat and had breakfast watching the rain come down really hard, we did start to get a little worried as the roads started to become flooded! We used this time to talk about what we were going to do about the train situation we decided to stay an extra night and get the 5.55am train the next morning into Cambodia then hopefully we'll get a seat this way. The rain had calmed down a little so we decided to risk it outside after nearly two hours in here. We walked up and down Khao San road trying to decide what to do with our day, it was still spitting and hardly anything was open still. We went into a few tattoo places because Sam and Steph said they'd like a bamboo tattoo each before they go home, so they were looking got prices. We decided that we had a few shopping bits to get while we were in Bangkok so we'd head to MBK shopping centre, at least if the rain carried on we'd be under cover. We got a taxi there, had a couple of hours getting the few things we all wanted and then got a taxi back to the guesthouse. We all then had some downtime seen as we'd been up and about since 6.00am this morning, although this wasn't that easy because we are in a fan only room and it is unbelievably hot. It was still Steph's birthday though and seen as we're staying an extra night we all got changed to go out for some drinks. Just before going out we got Steph a cake and candles which she loved and sung happy birthday, at which point we got told by a French woman to keep the noise down, it was only 7.30pm! We went back to Khao San road and had a drink in the first bar, people were selling wierd and wonderful wristbands with sayings on them. We then moved onto the next bar where we got a tower of beer, which is three liters of beer in a snazzy tower keeping it cold so you can pour it yourselves. After this it was definitely time for food, we all had really nice Thai food. We had a bit of a walk around the Khao San area and had one last drink, a cocktail before heading back, we got in at around 1.00am which was not bad, we were all knackered though from our early start.
