We decided that we would try to see some sights today, so we headed straight for the ferry and the Grand Palace. We had put trousers in our bag because we knew shorts wouldn't be allowed there. When we got there it was no shorts and no vest tops either, one of which I had on. So we had to borrow a shirt to cover my shoulders. The heat was around 36/37 degrees and we had trousers on! It was so hot, the Grand Palace was good though and right next to it was Wat Pho which was extremely impressive too. After we'd looked around and taken the shirt back that I borrowed (It felt so good to be back in shorts and vest top). We walked for a little while to find the next Wat. This one had a massive statue of a reclining Buddha. We hid in the shade a little here. Afterwards we headed back to the ferry, we were undecided whether to go back to Pantip Plaza or not, we still hadn't made a decision on the computer though. On the ferry James was asked to take a photograph of a couple, an Australian guy and a Thai girl. He said they'd got married today. After getting off the ferry we headed for the sky train still unsure whether to go to Pantip but we thought we'd head in that direction anyway. After getting off the sky train we walked down a road and saw a lady with a small BBQ she had skewered eggs on the BBQ, strange. We decided not to go to Pantip in the end but James had found a sky bar we could go to, which is apparently Thailand's tallest tower. It wasn't too far away but we needed a taxi to get us there. Once there it was really busy in the reception area, we had to pay about £6 each to go to floors 77-84. Floor 84 was the top floor. The lift stopped at floor 19 then we had to get another lift to take us to floor 83. At floor 83 we were given a free drink with our tickets we had so we sat on some chairs and took in the views. Bangkok looked amazing from up here! We watched the sun going down over the city and all the lights coming on. After we'd finished our drinks we walked up the stairs to the 84th floor where there was a revolving floor so you could see the whole of the city. It was awesome. We went back down had another drink and went outside to catch a taxi, we got a metered taxi which is so much better at least you know you're getting the right price, we got the taxi back to the hotel. It was getting a little late and we needed showers and to go get some tea. We did just that but it was still just as warm, I think we eventually stopped sweating around midnight with a fan on us! We stayed at a bar that had live music playing which was really good and half way through a group of street dancers came along and were dancing in the road. We had a really good night.
