Our flight this morning is at 10.30am but we're not that close to the airport and are unsure about traffic so we decided to get up and out for 7.00am. We got in quite late though last night, thankfully no hangovers as we hardly drank anything other than water but we were both tired. We checked out and headed to the main road to find a taxi. We found one, not metered unfortunately but we made a deal which we were happy with. We got to the airport in good time and our flight was just about on time. It was a big plane, it had seven seats across, it looked fairly worn and quite old. Some of the writing on the back of the seats was in Arabic which we thought was strange then we noticed on the top of the safety cards it said Arabian Airlines. They must have bought the plane from them. It was a good flight though, it was pretty cheap, we got 20kg baggage each for no extra cost and peanuts and a drink on the flight. Once out of the airport we got a transfer minibus to Patong, we thought this might be cheaper. On route we stopped at a travel shop where we all had to get out and give our hotel address so they could put it in order for the driver to drop off. We went into the shop, immediately it was obviously this was a selling tool too. We sat at a desk asked how long we would be staying, did we want any day trips, how many times do you have to say no for them to stop asking! We eventually all got back on the bus and set off, we were second to last being dropped off at around 3.00pm. I think this would have been a lot less hassle to have just got a taxi on this occasion. Once checked in we chilled in our room for a bit then head out to find our way around. We were about a 15 minute walk from the beach, we got something to eat on the way down. Patong's beach was really long, we set off from the end nearest us and walked the full length. It got a lot nicer at the opposite end of the beach, less boats and jet ski's etc. After walking along the beach we walked up one of the main roads in Patong. The place is very much known for it's nightlife and you could see that by some of the bars on the roads. The place is enormous, there's so much going on here, it's very commercial though, there is just about every fast food place you can think of. We walked back to the hotel.
