This cute little froggie lives in the tank at the rest area where we are camped, 25km north of Longreach. It’s been a magical outback evening, out amongst the scrub, peaceful and quiet, gorgeous sunset, campfire, mild temperature, sky and stars. Love it!
We started the day with another walk along the main street of Tambo, taking some photos in the morning sunshine.
As we headed out of town, Jesse said, “I’m sick of travelling, I’m homesick and I miss my toys.” And it is a long way! Sometimes when I look at the map and see both how far we are from home and how far we still have to go, I wonder if this holiday was such a good idea.
But then something cool and unexpected happens. We knew there was a Qantas museum in Longreach, but didn’t know anything about it. But while we were still out of town we could see a jumbo jet, then we discovered you could tour it (instead of or in addition to visiting the museum). And then they ran an impromptu tour just for us, because we had missed the last official tour, so all of a sudden we were underneath the jumbo next to the huge wheels and engines, looking into the cargo hold and then up inside the plane to see the black boxes and the computers and the cockpit. Never expected to be doing that in the middle of outback Queensland! The boys were suitably impressed.
We’ve had plenty of fun aleady, in the first eight days. Can't wait to see what the rest of the trip has in store for us!
