We had planned to take the cheap hop on hop off bus from Alexanderplatz but after having a tasty bagel breakfast with almost Melbourne quality coffee we couldn't find the stop for it so instead we walked down to Check point Charlie where we were going to go into the museum but there was a whole street corner of information & historical boards which pretty much covered the same topics so after reading up on the division of Berlin we went back further in time to the Nazi era at the Topography of Terror exhibition which covered how the SS was formed, gained power & the atrocities they instigated during WW2. For a late lunch we stopped at one of Berlin's many kebab shops, this one reportedly once frequented by the current chancellor. Continuing to the Brandenburg gate once more we passed under it & finally found the cheap hop on hop off bus which gave us a wider tour of Berlin than our feet could take us & gave then a deserving break. After completing almost all the 1.5hr loop we got off around Museum Island & wandered back up towards Alexanderplatz and the Hofbrau beer hall where we order a half litre Dunkel each. The menu was typically German with sausages, sauerkraut & potatoes so I let Sean order dinner & still feeling full from the Kebab went for a wander to find something lighter. In the food section of the nearby department store I found a small tub of fruit salad, yogurt & muesli which hit the spot even if the yogurt was mixed with quark which is a type of cream cheese which seems to be popular with muesli. Back to the beer hall to listen to the traditional oompa band & finally back to the hotel just up the road.
