We weren't in any rush this morning so ended up getting the train at 11.27 to Salzburg arriving about 1pm. We couldn't check in straight away even if we had splashed out a little on the Ramada so we went for a wander for some lunch before returning to check in at 3pm. We were going to get the Salzburg card & head out to the brewery but we weren't sure the bus would get us there for the last tour at 4pm so instead we crossed the river & climbed up to the Augustiner monastery which just happens to have a very large beer garden & brewery in it. We spent much of the afternoon enjoying the one very good beer they brew in ceramic tankards & trying the different beer hall foods on offer like sausages, pretzels & slithers of radish with salt. The continuos snacking meant we didn't need dinner so upon returning to the hotel I just got some strawberries & snacks from the Spar just across at the station.
