I think we'd missed sleep for so long we all gorged on it last night, no one was up before 10am, bliss. Eventually dressed, we headed to Green Park for a pub lunch and stroll. My god the tube is fantastic, we shopped a little in the area and headed back to get ready for the big event.
If the stress and excitement in our apartment was anything to go by, the first one of these two to get married will lead to hospitalisation. Between Boo fussing with her nails and Fid giving a rolling count down from Wedding-2 Hours, getting ready was a battle in focus. Despite the many palpable warnings of the consequences of lateness from FId, we were late. The Uber car drove right by, called and cancelled. Uber Fault: You can't rate a driver who cancelled your ride.
Arriving 15 minutes late we still had plenty of time before the ceremony. Fid was so excited that by the time I'd found my way to the bar he'd already struck up conversations with all the family members he'd met the other night. Up the ceremony the room was alive with excitement. Rob did a fantastic job of hiding his insecurities about actually pulling this off, Matt & Rom were re-assuring him throughout.
How apt that Sunny played for the entrance of Evie & Luke, it was hard to tell who was beaming the brightest, Evie, Luke, or Boo. As soon as Evie passed us, she spun around to Lila with "Oh my god, did you see her, she's a real Princess!" As the ceremony started the kids set themselves up in the aisle to make sure they didn't miss a thing. Of course none of Evie, Luke or Boo could really win the beaming challenge - Kenneth claimed that title all to himself.
The kids have been obsessing about the "after party" more than the ceremony, after the job that Rob & Evie did with this venue, the kids are going to bitterly disappointed at their next wedding. Drinks were held in a beach bar complete the sand, deck chairs, fence pailing bar, grass trees and life size roo! Exciting as this room was Fid had been busting to talk to my Mr West, I introduced them and I watched as Fid's eyes grew wider and wider throughout their discussion, probably not good :)
Up in the dining hall the kids set themselves up their Peter Pan table. The speeches were all so warm and loving from everyone even the kids sat attentive throughout them all. Everyone in the family is rightly so proud of the couple and each other, we were privileged to join in being a part of it.
Back down in the beach bar I found Boo holding court with all the cousins, trying on heels and doting on each one in turn, Fid let himself in the last venue of the evening, the club. The lure of a retro gaming console was too great for him. Hours later I thought he'd just been in there playing the arcade games, but he'd given up on that hours before and hit the dance floor.
Fid was having an absolute ball on the floor, I had people coming up to me all night telling me how much he was throwing down on the dance floor. By the end of the night he'd had his first london dance party, complete with clothes both stinking and ringing with sweat :)
The guys had the place licensed to serve until 5am, but by the time to sustenance burritos were making their rounds the Aurisch clan was starting to fade. Fid spent the Uber ride home frothing about his awesome night whilst Boo, no longer the centre of the conversation fell asleep in my lap. Fantastic night with rightly proud families celebrating a wonderful couple, we all felt very privileged to join them.
