Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Enjoyed the lay back pace of Pisa. Now we are on the move again. Next stop is Monaco.
Monaco is a beautiful town. Everything is immaculate. We spent the day walking the city, visiting the casino and the palace. A very nice place to visit. Our stay at the Novotel was great. Lucky with the weather, it started to rain in the evening, so we had the whole afternoon without rain.
Our next stop was Cannes. The drive was only short, bout 70ks, but it took hours. We drove through Nice, which is a complete traffic jam. Should have taken the motorway.
Anyway Cannes is very beautiful. The beach looked nice, even though we had a full day of rain. Wandered the city for the rest of the day with umbrellas.
Leaving Cannes for Geneva, we decided to drive through the Alps. Yes it was a beautiful drive. Snow capped mountains, lovely green flora. The distance was only 450ks but took 7 hours. If we took the toll road, the toll was around 50 Euro. The way we went was only 15 euros.
On arriving in Geneva we walked to the lake. Beautiful sunny afternoon with a slight chill.
today we will walk to the old part town of Geneva.
Our next stop is Luzern in Switzerland. We will be drve through Chaminox then Martigny which are in the mountains

Adrya You are having a wonderful time - I can see from the magnificent pictures. The buildings are such icons to humanity and so well built they should be there for us to enjoy for many centuries yet. I am so pleased you are seeing western hisotry and culture at its best.i sent you a text message on Xmas day did you receive it? I asked if the snow storms are as bad as they show on the TV? You seem to have stayed in front of the storm front for a while but turning back towards Paris would mean travelling right through the snow. How are you finding it? Is it restricting your travel plans? will you make the flight to the US? the US is blanketed in snow also and planes grounded in Chicago, but this may be all clear by the time you fly - I hope so. I reassure both Katrina and Judith that you are a good dirver and know what you are doing and don't take foolish risks. It must be tiring though to drive in the snow. Thanks for the email about the Renault Alan sounds like a good car - Have you driven it at all? We are having a relaxing Xmas break at home - the first in about 15 years. David is working on the Murray Darling Basin (MDB) Project writing programs to process the Lidar imagery at home. But the flying has come to a standstill now due to cyclone Laurence a category 5 cyclone which hit northern WA about a week ago and has travelled through the entre centre of Australia joining 2 low troughs and the monsoons from the north and now the lows in the Coral Sea on the east coast. It has been 10 years since a cyclone travelled through the country dumping rain since 1999. Although David is a bit upset that the project has come to a standstill one cannot begrudge the MDB some decent rain to flush the Murray River. It has been raining in Brisbane every day for over a week now and the forecast is for more rain. This is my favourite weather warm days that are wet and humid.Wishing you much love from ...............Adrya
