Brenton Kovacs's Travels
27th
This morning greats me with clouds and rain. Guess i cant get sunshine everyday. After breakfast i head off to a large shopping mall, perfect for a rainy day. Its a 30 minute bus ride out of town. The buses here are so old and so poorly maintained. They shake and rattle, have wooden seats and no suspension. What a ride for 1 euro!
Anyway the shopping mall is nothing great, just a mass of expensive shops. The food court has me eating a wonderful tasty Yiros for 2 euro. Havng walked around for a few hours inside and out i try and find the bus stop. The bus arrives and takes me to the interchange where we are told to get off as the drivers are now on strike, Great!
So myself plus 50 or so people trying to get to various destinations are stuck. The interchange is 25 minutes by bus away from the city, so no chance of walking it. Cabs are way to expensive, so we all just wait it out. Now as i didnt expect to be stuck outside for 2 hours in 6 degree cold, i was not dressed appropriately. So the shivering begins.
Lucky the drivers end there strike and a bus pulls into our bay to take us into town. After only a few stops the bus is absolutely full, and the driver keeps stopping to let more people in. Now after some pushing i get off the bus at my stop and head to the apartment for a nice cup of coffee.
Not to be put off by drizzling rain its back out to do some walking of unseen streets. Low and behold i came across a huge area full of ruins. No pictures as it is getting dark and the rains is getting heavier. Maybe tomorrow's weather will be better.

The days have been mostly overcast with light rain. Spent days walking the streets and spending time in the markets. One night i walked up to the tower overlooking the city. Its hard a walk up the steep wet slippery cobblestone streets. Was a very eerie night as it was slightly foggy with light misty rain. The walk to the tower takes you through the old city, so hardly any cars to run you over. The view was not great due to the fog, but it was so peaceful.
On Sunday i spent a few hours wandering along the waterfront which was very crowded and the occasional glimpse of blue sky. The ocean has been absolutely dead flat everyday due to not a breath of wind. Tomorrow its of to Kalabaka to visit Meteora, the monasteries perch on sandstone peaks.
