"Safe... Safe... Safe... Instant death!" - James Jacobs
As we made our way to Yosemite National Park, we left Sam Francisco and it's crack addicts behind. We made our way through Oakland, where 7 people had been shot in the past 48 hours, and almost our home for two days... thank god we didn't make that decision.
Stopping off for breakfast at our usual place we refuelled and made our way - it was a lovely drive full of sunshine and temperatures of over 90 degrees. We can leave our jumpers and San Francisco's breezy weather behind; it's time to start busting out the vest tops once more. As we passed through cornfields and cherry vineyards, our good friend Dashboard Minion kept us safe on our travels towards the national park.
Driving through a town called Big Oak Flat, we couldn't help think that it was ironic considering we'd spent the previous twenty minutes driving up the mountains, through winding roads. With the road kill on the increase once more, we knew we were off the interstates and at one with nature again. Brap!
Eventually we got to Yosemite National Park and made our way in driving approximately 55 miles down the meandering road (hence the quote)... it was not very pleasant. We stopped off at Tenaya Lake to stretch our legs and take in the surroundings - and of course take some pictures too. The national park was gorgeous and full of pine trees that reminded us of our drive through Arizona. There is a LAD point up for grabs to whoever can spot a bear first. We learnt that if you come across a mountain lion that attacks you, fight back! We're pretty sure that Nick is going to be the first one to be killed by nature; let's hope he's been taking in all that Bear Grylls' has taught him... otherwise he's f***ed!
We made it out of Yosemite and headed to June Lake where we would be lodging for the next two nights. With June Lake on our right, we drove into the little village of the same name and were gobsmacked by what we saw: the sight of safety, friendly people, a pub and our hotel. We had hit the jackpot, we checked-in to a room with three beds, a kitchen and its very own BBQ, you know, just in case! Oh, and to top it all off... we have wifi!
For now, we're off to have dinner and a few drinks.
Have a good evening...
