"She's got bigger balls than you!" - Marc Taylor

Feeling a little tired and unmotivated to move from our beds we casually got ourselves up and headed to Santa Monica pier to complete our Route 66 journey. We did it! We celebrated by taking a stroll along the beach in search for Muscle Beach. After walking in the wrong direction, we eventually located what looked like an adult playground; monkey bars, swings and ropes. It was a bloody let down.

We took a drive into town and parked up next to Hollywood Boulevard. We caught a quick photo with the big Hollywood sign behind us (very far in the distance) and had a stroll down the road. James even managed to get a picture with Wolverine - good start to the day in our eyes. We refuelled at the Hard Rock Cafe before heading north to The Oaks Mall.

After some serious retail therapy, and for some, a haircut accompanied by a head massage, we were ready to roll and head towards our destinations for the night... Santa Barbara.
For the second night running, we found that motels were fully booked upon arrival and were even pretty pricey. We found a motel called Pacific Crest, that looked s**t on the outside, but was actually huge on the inside... result! Very much like the tardis. Learning from our mistakes over the past two evenings, we booked motels in advance for the next three nights, gaining an extra day in San Francisco - another excuse to party!

After a failed attempt at a kick about on the beach (yes, we're that close to the sea), we got showered and headed up to State Street, where the magic happens. Stopping for a pizza along the way, we reached our destination and had a drink at quite a popular bar. We eventually moved on across the road to a bar with live music and very expensive drinks - 4 shots of tequila, and 4 drinks cost $57... are they out of their f**king mind?!
After calling it a night, we headed home where James and Marc continued their journey to become the Pokemon master and we relaxed for the rest of the evening.

For a LAD point, Chris has backed James to become the Pokemon master in a battle taking place on 22nd August, whereas Nick has backed Marc. Only time will tell who the ultimate master is!

We're such lads ;)

All in all, a very productive day! California, we love you...
